40G Kitty Hawk Transmitter

Description:

Discovery's 40 Gb/s optical transmitter generates Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) and Differential Phase-Shift Keyed (DPSK) signals. This stand-alone device includes a general purpose laboratory DFB laser source at 1550 nm wavelength, a set of Mach-Zehnder modulators, driver amplifiers, and all the necessary monitoring and control electronics including the modulator bias stabilization circuit. This optical transmitter requires an external 40 Gb/s data as well as clock source to operate. The transmitter allows users to choose between NRZ-ASK, RZ-ASK NRZ-DPSK, and RZ-DPSK modulation formats. The optical transmitter supports data rates from 39 Gb/s of up to 44 Gb/s and operates over a wavelength range of 1528-1567 nm.

Salient Features:

  • Data rates from 39 Gb/s to 44 Gb/s for OOK or DPSK modulation formats
  • Optional pulse carver to choose between NRZ or RZ formats
  • Adjustable duty cycle for pulse carver (33%, 50%, or 67% duty cycle of modulation frequency)
  • High extinction ratio
  • Option to choose between CW light source (either DFB or C-band tunable laser source)

Available Models:

  • DSCTX40G - 40 Gb/s DPSK/OOK Transmitter

Discovery's 40G Kitty Hawk Transmitter supports data rates from 39 Gb/s to 44 Gb/s for OOK or DPSK modulation formats.
